Missions and activities of CEEJA

CEEJA

European Center for Japanese Studies of Alsace

Created in 2001, the CEEJA aims to develop exchanges with Japan in all areas.


Funded by the European Community of Alsace, the CEEJA develops:- innovative cultural projects in Europe and contributes to the dissemination of Japanese culture in Alsace through numerous events, highlighting in particular our art collections

- the European Manga Museum project and the large European library on Japan

- tailor-made training for all audiences,

- innovative tourism projects in cooperation with Alsace Destination Tourisme (ADT) and All Nippon Airways (ANA),

- global Alsace-Japan cooperation, which began in 1863 through the Mulhouse textile industry,

- the Europe-Japan Academic Club, funded by the Japanese partner universities of CEEJA for the development of a center of scientific excellence, which offers academic events and publications supported by the Toshiba International Foundation.


The CEEJA relies on a European scientific council made up of personalities from the academic world.

The JapanTech Grand Est Cluster, focused on Japanese innovation, is funded by the Grand Est Region, the Pôle Métropolitain d'Alsace and the City of Colmar. It was created on August 28, 2020 by the CEEJA. It brings together all of the Japanese companies in the Grand-Est as well as local players linked to Japan.


Within the Cluster JapanTech Grand Est, a multi-sector Japanese business incubator welcomes innovative SMEs and startups within the Maison Pfister in Colmar.


The JapanTech Grand Est Cluster and the incubator are financially supported by the Ricoh/State revitalization plan. the action of André Klein. The JapanTech Grand Est Cluster takes over from the Japan Alsace Agency which was coordinated by the CEEJA until 2020.

EU-Japan Regional Cooperation Helpdesk

The new regional cooperation platform “EU-Japan Regional Cooperation Helpdesk”, created by the EU Japan Center for Industrial Cooperation (co-financed and co-managed by the European Commission DG GROW and the Japanese Government – METI) is currently coordinated by the European Center for Industrial Cooperation. Japanese Studies of Alsace (CEEJA) and CLAIR (Japanese Center for Local Authorities).

 

This new helpdesk is available to European regions, Japanese departments and European and Japanese clusters to promote and develop all forms of cooperation (industry, trade, investment, research and innovation, tourism and mobility) through events and matchmaking. EU-Japan.


The EU-Japan platform is funded by the EU Japan Center for Industrial Cooperation. The European office managed by CEEJA is located in Strasbourg and the Japanese office managed by CLAIR is located in Tokyo.
